Hello! In this blog you meet Greg Valenti, our friend from high school who currently lives in Colorado. He came to visit us here in Malta and then we all took the ferry to visit Sicily – his ancestral home. His great-grandparents came from Santo Stephano which is known for its beautiful pottery.

On the way to Santo Stephano, we rented a car and drove through central Sicily stopping in the hilltowns of Agira and Enna. We’ll begin with this panorama of Agira.

Agira was where we first learned how very narrow some of the streets are, making driving an adventure! One of the truly wonderful outcomes of that challenge was the kindness of the locals. Sicilians are ready to help…and even give spontaneous hugs!

And on to the next hilltown. Here’s a panorama from atop Enna followed by some stills.

Next … Santo Stephano. We were just flabbergasted at the amazing pottery here. Even the public benches and trash cans are highly decorated.

These next photos and video are from a manufacturing facility in Santo Stephano.

These tile murals are on the promenade in Santo Stephano.

We hope you enjoyed this blog. Our next installment of the trip to Sicily will include Palermo, Erice, and Agrigento!
