Starting in 1947, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival has grown from 8 theater companies into a month long event that is the world’s largest performing arts festival. There is a 400 page program guide of everything that is in a venue. Everything else is in the streets and squares.

An irreverent treatment of the statue of David Hume. He was a Scottish philosopher, historian, and economist. You can see that many people rub the toes of his right foot for luck…

We saw this fabulous acapella group but couldn’t take a video. Check out their YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/user/oxfordgargoyles

Scott Monument

But best of all, we enjoyed the Festival with our friends Chris and Rod who recently moved to the UK. The previous 2 shots and this photo are of the monument to Sir Walter Scott – by far the most prominent memorial in Edinburgh. It seems fitting to end with this quotation about Edinburgh by Sir Walter Scott.

“Piled deep and massy, close and high; mine own romantic town.”

    Thanks for the great Photos!

I was impressed by the contemporary art in the museum in E. The Mackintosh tea rooms in Glasglow are also remarkable.

You look like you are having a fine time! I think many people DREAM of what you two are doing now. AND you are out Doing it!

Truly, I am so thankful for this time now — since Sage. From 2005 – 2024 we traveled almost every other year – all great adventures!

    Enjoy!
